but seriously – who are they kidding: it has ALL THE MAJOR ROMANCE FIC
TROPES  #1) bodyguard crush  #2)hurt/comfort  #3) we have to huddle for warmth  #4) let me hold you while you have nightmares  #5) the burning torch of hidden love while thinking the other doesn’t fancy them (and they doooo)  #5) the ‘show me how to fight/make weapons team-up bonding session  #6)
the classic romance set up of ‘start as threat/antagonist before trust
is built over time until it’s the opposite/most trusted ally’  #(seriously that one is common to almost every romance from austen to stephenie meyer)  #it’s basically the gooeyiest mushiest mills and boone romance and the fanboys eat it up with a spoon  #paperback/b-movie romance tropes all up in ur macho cinema  #i
mean tone down the gore even slightly and this has the tone pacing and
format of 80% of the dark fantasy/action romance paperback genre  #i love everyone in this technoir dive bar

#the deleted thorazine dream is canon  #you know it. i know it. it is known  #kyle reese is many of my favourite things:  #taciturn repressed devoted pragmatic and covered in scars  #i mean sarah my queen levels up from ‘terrified waitress’ to ‘hey we should bomb cyberdyne and save the world’  #so she ain’t no slouch  #but
it’s hilarious to me that kyle is so mission-focussed that in the T1
deleted scene when sarah’s like ‘here’s my plan to save the world’  #he just basically whispers ‘but ur my world’ and has a breakdown about experiencing the beauty of a pre-apocalypse timeline  #gesturing
helplessly at flowers and trees and at sarah herself and like ‘i cannot
deal with this much beauty. my heart. it is breaking’  #he’s not even on board to firebomb cyberdyne on the off chance as his entire life goal is to keep sarah alive  #just sarah  #when offered the suggestion to go off-manual and maybe save the world he’s literally just like  #’i ..just want to throw myself between you and danger ok idk about anything else?’  #he’s prepared to run non-stop as long as the terminator’s fuel cell lasts if it keeps sarah alive  #just to stand next to her and take the bullet  #kyle reese had approximately zero chill bc he’s been given the full responsibility of a) saving the entire world  #and b) protecting the woman he loves with his body and life  #and honestly he ranks b) far above a)
